Third Way Farm is owned by Tommy Shireman and his wife Michelle Shireman. They serve as a foundation for a rich community of interns, CSA members, animals, market goers, and chefs that contribute to the success of the farm. Third Way Farm typically employs anywhere from 2-6 interns who live and work on the farm, depending on the season and work load. Part time workers and volunteers often serve as an integral part of our operation as well. Our CSA members are also foundational to the farm, as it they and their families that make up the core support of Third Way Farm's work to serve our community with good food. Our community also includes a number of restaurants in the Baltimore area, including the Woodberry restaurant group, the Laurrapin (Havre de Grace), and Pairings Bistro (Bel Air). Of course we can't forget about the furred and feathered members of our community; Stella (the farm dog), Ruby (the barn cat) and many sheep, chickens, and pigs are creatures that we love and care for with dignity as part of the life of Third Way Farm.
Furthermore, we seek to cultivate a place of welcome and invitation to engage in a community of faith at Third Way Farm. Wherever one is on the journey of faith, or not at all, we invite all members of our community to join us for weekly meals, bible studies, and more as we hope to share and deepen the connection we make between sustainable farming and faith. It is at this junction where we are inspired, renewed, and challenged afresh in our mission as a farm, and more broadly as people hoping to love the world and people around us.
