What is a CSA?
CSA is simply an acronym for “Community Supported Agriculture,” which is a fancy and nuanced way of saying, a program in which members purchase a “share” of a farm’s harvest for a season. More or less, joining a CSA entails you participating in the gift of local and regenerative agriculture that is intended to support a more just and robust local food economy. By joining TWF’s CSA, you help enable us to provide holistically nutritious and delicious food to our community, empower us to care for and enrich our shared land and ecosystem, and contribute to a fair livelihood for farmers like us trying to do this good work.
Your membership provides much needed income for us in the beginning of the season with your membership purchase. In return, we work to provide you with a wide array of beautiful, unique, delicious, and healthy vegetables, herbs, fruits, meat and eggs each week. The contents of your share typically cost upwards of 1.5 times more by market prices than what you pay in your membership fee broken down each week. You also get the benefit of knowing the farmer and land from which your food comes, with the opportunity @ TWF to participate in a farm tour, volunteer with us, attend special our events like farm-to-table dinners, and partake in service opportunities to young people that engage in TWF's work and ministry.
With Third Way Farm’s CSA, your share will include a wide array of different vegetables and herbs all harvested and prepared as fresh as possible for you each week. Leafy greens are staple products that we highlight each week as the most nutritious items we offer. It’s truly a delight to experience the incredible variety of beauty, texture, nutrition and taste, both familiar and excitingly unfamiliar to you, that will appear in your share each week. We love to provide inspiration for how to enjoy some of our vegetables and herbs by offering recipes that we love whenever possible, but hopefully weekly! There are so many incredible and extraordinary varieties of vegetables out there that we are just never exposed to in mainstream grocery stores and restaurants, so we hope you will enjoy encounters with them through our CSA as much as we do here ourselves.
